Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Hello. Hi.
[00:00:02] Welcome, dear listener, and thank you for stopping by.
[00:00:07] Welcome to the Histories podcast. I figured I should make an intro episode, just explaining who I am, what this place is, and what exactly you're in for.
[00:00:18] So let me just start by saying hello. My name is Angelo. I am a high schooler, I'm from Florida, and I am a lover of stories. I'm talking books, movies, plays. If it's got a hero's journey or some convoluted storyline, then I'm all over it.
[00:00:41] This is one of the reasons why I've always been so drawn to the topic of history, especially in school. Cause you see, history is filled with all sorts of stories, and unlike Star wars and dune, they've actually happened.
[00:00:55] One other important thing about me is I love to talk.
[00:01:00] I love to talk. I'm more likely to jog my mouth than I am to run it, but that's besides the point. The point is, with my love for stories and my habit of talking, I created this podcast. So what is this podcast? Well, fittingly enough, it's called histories, because to me, the power of history comes from the countless stories it has. And what better way to pass on knowledge of these historical events than through the act of storytelling? See, I come across a lot of stories from all throughout our planet's existence, and some of them I find on accident, while others I find on purpose for my own entertainment.
[00:01:41] But more often than not, the stories that I do find tend to be of a strange nature.
[00:01:49] Not stuff from your run of the mill history textbooks. I'm trying to entertain myself, not take a nap.
[00:01:55] A big part of the fun in finding these stories is the way that they're told, because, I mean, every story has a different interpretation, a different way in which the speaker communicates the story's message.
[00:02:08] That's something I absolutely love about storytelling, and it's something that hopefully I can provide to you.
[00:02:16] So what exactly are you in for? Well, expect stories with some interesting concept to them, like a sort of allure. Maybe it's a mystery from long ago, or the obscure story of a singular person, some random dude. Maybe.
[00:02:34] You might notice that I've already made episodes on these two.
[00:02:38] I look for stories that can engage and captivate people, because those are the stories that manage to engage and captivate me.
[00:02:47] They can be from way back in the past or really close to the present. They could be critical events that have changed the course of history, or they could be myths and tall tales that have been passed down from generation to generation.
[00:03:03] But at the end of the day. This is a podcast where each episode, quite simply, I tell you a story.
[00:03:11] Sometimes they're short, other times the stories might be longer.
[00:03:17] But regardless, the goal is and will always remain the same.
[00:03:22] To share stories, interesting stories from history.
[00:03:29] I want to blend my love for strange historical facts and events, as well as engaging storytelling into something that hopefully you can listen along to, something you can listen along to enjoy, and maybe, just maybe even inspire you to live and find some stories of your own, whether it's finding them online in a book, or just by living your life and making your own story.
[00:04:00] So with that, this is histories. I'm Angelo and I hope to see you again real soon.
